Medical Notes and Records

By omahony, Tuesday, 5th March 2013 | 1 comments

Carl O'Mahony & Co have no problems getting hospitals to release patients notes and records.  In the case of a public hopsital you send a Freedom of Information Requeste signed by the patient and for a private hopsital, its a Data Protection Request.  On receipt of these forms the hospital will write a letter of acknowledgement and advise that tehy will deal with the request in due course.  You then need to ring the records department 2 weeks later to get a name of hte person dealing with the query and a phone call should be made to that person every two weeks.  We at Carl O'Mahony & Co. find that we can obtain Hospital Notes and Records within 6 weeks of making the request

1 I thought it would take ages to get my hospital notes as I expected the HSE to be uncooperative but Frances Nash in Carl O Mahony & Co had them all in three weeks. She was tenacious in following up with officials in the Hospital
